Traces_103 “ les Femmes D’Alger dans leurs Appartement”

This work is inspired by Eugène de La Croix's masterpiece "les femmes d'alger dans leurs appartements",

This work is based on the principle of the structure of the golden ratio, where I worked on the relationship of the bending of the knees in an anatomical version, as I am currently dealing with our relationship with surgical prosthetics in this project.

Indeed I did not want it to be of an anatomical or figurative appearance, this gave me more material for reflection on the treatment of the subject, after several tests and sketches, I have more or less taken up the bending and extension of the knees of the four women on the Delacroix work,

The size of the painting is not identical to Picasso's, I pay tribute to this great painter Eugene Delacroix who treated a subject that speaks to me as I have Algerian origins and I understand better the elements integrated into his work,

The choice of the colour palette was a great challenge to remain in harmony with the different transitions between the subject, element and colours, the repair was also one of my great concerns. The representation of the three seated women as well as the one standing was almost a scientific approach due to my professional background,

The reading I wanted for an informed public (such as orthopaedic surgeons), for art critics because of the structured and organised composition according to precise and not random principles and also for the aesthetic look of the spectator.

To reach the three different audiences in their way of seeing and their way of approaching a work was an exercise in high acrobatics.
